Wedding License Stove-Pipe Hat

Purchased by Lincoln for about $4.00 in the mid-1850’s in a shop on the square in Springfield, this hat is one of the few objects in World History that is so identified with a single person. It is one of only three in the world that have been confirmed to have been owned by Mr. Lincoln, with this one of beaver-fur being the oldest of the three.
