Lincoln's Portfolio Lincoln's Portfolio

President Lincoln, along with each member of his cabinet, was presented with a matching portfolio shortly after the President's inauguration on March 4, 1861. Embossed with the President's name in gold leaf, this portfolio likely carried such important documents as the Emancipation Proclamation, Gettysburg Address, and Lincoln's Second Inaugural Speech. It still has bits of red sealing wax smeared on the inside.
