The famed photographer of Civil War portraits and battle scenes used this simple wooden box, stenciled 'M. B. Brady 1865,' when he travelled out into the field. It measures about 15 x 10 x 9 inches and once held his glass plates, chemicals, and other supplies. His individual portraits of the Lincolns, and of the casualties on the ground after Gettysburg, brought those scenes to life for all time.
